- Experience at the International House's Spanish Conversation Hour.
"As promised, I did attend the conversation hour at the International House and wanted to report back to you on my experience. I just want to thank you for recommending this. I had a wonderful experience there. I was greeted warmly and it was very nice that I was able to listen and learn. The group was very helpful when I struggled and extremely kind to me as a beginner.
I thought I would feel intimidated when listening and trying to respond but I did not, I just listened and focused on what I heard kind of like the test portion where you played the song and we had to fill in the blanks. At first, I was nervous at speaking but after while it was just like having a conversation with you or a friend. I have been invited back and will be attending those conversations every chance I get to prepare myself for both, the advanced class and the trip to Cuernavaca! (I am thinking POSITIVE and believing). I have learned that just being around the conversation is helpful for me. The hour seemed to pass too quickly but it was quite a lovely experience. Thank you so much for your recommendation. I look forward to return."
- Common errors that hurt the ears of extremely patient Spanish speakers
- This one hurts me (among others) the most:
- How to answer the question ¿Cómo se llama Ud.?
If you have learned (incorrectly) to answer "Me llamo es (your name) ", make sure to change it to "Me llamo (your name)"
"llamo" is a conjugated verb and cannot be followed by another conjugated verb!!!! It is a fatal error!!! Please work on it!!!!
